The Original, in full

Here is how the Original is put together, and how to set it up for you.

Choose your setup

Pick your filling, coil fibre or British wool, and choose whether to add an organic cotton pillowcase or take the pillow on its own. There are four combinations, so it fits how you like to sleep and what you want to spend.

Adjustable firmness

A premium YKK® zip lets you add or remove filling to set the firmness and height. Make it softer and lower, or fuller and firmer, whenever you like.

Your choice of filling

The standard filling is our odourless, hypoallergenic coil fibre, spun in Yorkshire on machinery dating back to 1952. It stays cooler than memory foam and holds its loft. British wool is a natural alternative that regulates temperature well. You can also remove our filling and use your own.

The case and the details

The optional pillowcase is 100% organic cotton sateen, OEKO-TEX® certified, smooth and gentle against sensitive ears. The pillow measures 46 × 35 × 8 cm, a little smaller than a conventional pillow. It works best sat on top of your usual pillow, so your head stays supported while your ear rests over the hole. It can also be used on its own.

It’s expensive to make things this well. Well sourced materials with nothing hidden in them, made by people paid a proper wage, sewn from scratch here in Liverpool. Look at what else is out there: the rest of the market is made overseas, down to a price. We went the other way and chose quality over price. That’s why nobody else makes them like this.

Original PWAH questions, answered

If you like to sleep with two pillows, the Original PWAH is a great choice, since it works best sat on top of your existing pillow. It is also the better pick if you prefer a smaller pillow. If you would rather a larger pillow, or you sleep with only one, the PWAH V2 is the better option.

The firmness is fully adjustable. Add or remove filling through the integrated YKK® zip. We fill them to a medium firmness, since it is easier to take a little out than to wish you had more. If you need extra filling, just contact us and we will send some along. For guidance, see our Care Instructions.

Yes. Our pillows can be machine washed on a low heat.

The Original PWAH® measures 46 × 35 × 8 cm, a little smaller than a conventional pillow and designed to sit on top of your own. Full dimensions, including hole size, are listed in the Measurements tab further down this page.
