Comfort, not a cure

Comfortable rest after otoplasty

After otoplasty your ears are often swollen and tender, and the last thing you want is the weight of a pillow pressing on a freshly reshaped ear. Designed as an otoplasty pillow, the Original Pillow with a Hole has an open centre, so when you lie on your side your ear rests in clear space instead of being pressed into the bed — making it far easier to sleep comfortably while you recover.

Zero

pressure on the reshaped ear when you lie on it.

You can settle on the side that’s been operated on without your ear taking any weight — it sits in the open centre instead of being crushed into the pillow. Open the YKK® zip and set the height that suits you, and the hole keeps the ear clear all night.

It’s just as good for anyone whose ear gets sore or tender from sleeping on that side — not only after surgery.

What about a headband?

Your surgeon may give you a headband to wear after otoplasty — follow their advice on that. A headband and this pillow do different jobs: the headband supports your ears during the day, while the pillow is for sleeping comfortably at night, keeping pressure off the ear while you rest. We make the pillow, not the headband.

Every pillow is made by hand in England from soft, breathable cotton and filled with hypoallergenic coil fibre — or British wool, if you’d prefer a natural alternative — so it stays gentle against a tender ear.

A comfort aid, not a medical device. It doesn’t treat anything or change your recovery — it simply keeps the pressure of a pillow off your ear so resting is more comfortable. Always follow the aftercare advice from your surgeon.

Our craft

These are not cheap textiles, and you wouldn’t want them to be.

It’s expensive to make things this well. Well sourced materials with nothing hidden in them, made by people paid a proper wage, sewn from scratch here in Liverpool. Look at what else is out there: the rest of the market is made overseas, down to a price. We went the other way and chose quality over price. That’s why nobody else makes them like this.

Otoplasty pillow questions, answered

Machine washable and tumble-dryable — wash at 30°C and tumble dry. Pop a tennis ball in the dryer with it to redistribute the filling and keep it plump. Full guidance is on our Care Instructions page.

Yes — that’s one of the main advantages of the pillow. Open the YKK® zip and add or remove filling until the height and firmness suit you: take some out for a lower, softer feel, or add more for firmer support. It’s worth experimenting over a few nights to find what works for your shoulder and sleeping position. There’s a short video showing how on our Care Instructions page.

The Original V1 works best placed on top of your usual pillow, so you keep the height and neck support you’re used to while gaining the ear relief. The V2 is designed as a standalone pillow, though it can also sit on top of a regular one if you prefer more loft.

It’s designed to keep the pressure of a pillow off a tender, reshaped ear, which many people find makes sleeping on their side more comfortable while they recover. It’s a comfort aid, not a medical device — always check with your surgeon about when and how to sleep after your otoplasty.

The hole lets you rest on the side that’s been operated on without your ear taking any weight — it sits in the open centre instead of being pressed into the pillow. Follow your surgeon’s guidance on when you’re ready to sleep on that side.

If your surgeon has given you a headband, follow their advice — that’s for the day. The pillow does a different job: it keeps pressure off your ear so you can sleep comfortably at night. We make the pillow, not the headband.
